$PLX si finanzia e l’odissea di ULYPSO potrebbe avere una fine.

$PLX ha appena emesso 4,5 milioni di titoli a 5,25$. $PLX ha una possibile data di approvazione per ULYPSO nel trattamento della malattia di Gaucher al 1 maggio 2012.

Riporto per intero da un 10-Q del 7 novembre 2011 (il grassetto l’ho aggiunto io):

In February 2011, we received a CRL from the FDA regarding our NDA for taliglucerase alfa for the treatment of Gaucher disease.  The main questions raised by the FDA regarding the NDA relate to clinical and chemistry, manufacturing and controls (CMC).  In the clinical section of the CRL, the FDA requested additional data from the ongoing switchover trial and the long-term extension trial relating to taliglucerase alfa.  At the time the NDA was submitted, full data from these trials was not available.  In the CMC section of the CRL, the FDA requested information regarding testing specifications and assay validation.  The FDA did not request additional clinical studies in the CRL.  In May 2011, we had a meeting with the FDA to clarify the FDA’s requests and in July 2011, we submitted a reply to the CRL.  In August 2011, the FDA notified us that it had accepted for review the resubmission of the taliglucerase alfa NDA, had deemed the resubmission a class 2, or 6-month, response and established February 1, 2012 as the new PDUFA date.  There can be no assurance that the FDA will not make any additional request regarding our NDA.  In the past, the FDA has made additional requests to other applicants after the delivery of a CRL.  Any additional requests from the FDA relating to the NDA may delay or preclude the FDA’s review of our reply to the CRL.  Even if we comply with all of the FDA’s requests in the CRL or otherwise, if any, the FDA may ultimately reject the NDA, or fail to approve the NDA in a timely manner, which would have a material adverse effect on our business, financial condition and results of operations.

La risposta negativa ricevuta da $PLX riguardava quindi, detto in soldoni, questioni che non implicavano la conduzione di un nuovo studio clinico. I chiarimenti richiesti da FDA sono stati però di un certo peso ed hanno richiesto risposte con dati sostanziali che hanno determinato una class 2 resubmission quindi, sempre in soldoni,prima bocciatura è stata moderatamente leggera, ma ottenere l’approvazione non sarà comunque una passeggiata.

Potrebbe essere però interessante entrare ora per sfruttare il ribasso in doppia cifra di ieri ed approfittare di una risalita da qui alla decisione, che secondo me arriverà prima

Il farmaco è in approvazione anche in Europa ed il parere del CHMP potrebbe non essere tanto lontano ma dovrebbe consentire spazi di manovra ancora per un mesetto o due… purtroppo per il momento il CHMP non pubblica un’agenda.

Come si vede dal gragico che ho rubato come al solito da Google finance in corrispondenza della lettera “I” c’è un vistoso crollo dovuto alla notizia del rinvio della decisione di FDA a maggio. Inizialmente la decisione era prevista per febbraio:

In November 2011, the Company submitted certain clinical information regarding taliglucerase alfa in response to an FDA request. This request related mainly to the presentation of select data provided in the NDA. As this information was requested and provided within 90 days of the February 1, 2012 PDUFA goal date, the agency has the option to extend the PDUFA goal date to provide adequate time for the FDA to complete their review. A three month extension cycle is the standard period granted. No additional data were requested by the FDA in the notification, nor was the Company notified of any specific deficiency in the taliglucerase alfa NDA.

Oh, taliglucerase alfa altro non è che ULYPSO. Il motivo del rinvio quindi è da attribuire a $PLX e ad una integrazione nei documenti forniti a FDA, in teoria un rinvio positivo.

Anche solo a occhio si vede che il titolo si era ripreso in questi mesi dal crollo e penso ci siano buone possibilità che si attesti nuovamente sopra i 6$.
